Terms of sale
Last updated: 12 October 2026
These terms apply to every order placed through this website or our WhatsApp. They are written to meet the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA) and the Consumer Protection Act (CPA). Nothing here takes away a right those laws give you.
1. Who we are
- Trading name
- Reliquaire
- Seller (full name and legal status)
- William McIlleron, sole proprietor (an individual trading as Reliquaire, with a parent's written consent as he is under 18)
- Physical address (for legal notices)
- 12 Doveton Road, Parktown, Johannesburg, 2193
- Phone and WhatsApp
- 072 355 5350
- williamjonahmci@gmail.com
- Website
- reliquaire.pages.dev
- Industry bodies
- We are not a member of any self-regulatory or accreditation body, and have not signed up to any industry code of conduct.
- VAT
- We are not registered for VAT.
2. What we sell
Heavily embroidered denim jeans, made to order in small runs. Each design is shown on its own page with its cuts (baggy or flare), colours and sizes. Until a design has been made and photographed, its images are renders and are labelled as such. The finished pair may differ slightly in colour and stitch detail.
3. Prices
All prices are in South African rand (ZAR). Because we are not VAT-registered, no VAT is added. Delivery is charged separately. Before you pay, we send you the full total: the price, delivery and any other cost. There are no other fees.
4. How ordering works
- Choose your design, cut, sizing and waist on the site, then tap the pre-order button. WhatsApp opens with your choices written out.
- We reply with an order summary: design, cut, size, quantity, price, delivery cost, total, and the expected delivery window.
- Check it. If anything is wrong, tell us and we correct it. You can also simply not go ahead; nothing is owed until you pay.
- Your order is confirmed only once you have approved the summary and your payment has reached us. We then send a written confirmation, which is your record of the order. You can ask us for a copy at any time.
5. Payment
Orders are paid in full, upfront, by EFT to the account details we send you on WhatsApp. Card payments, when offered, are processed by Paystack; we never see or store your card details, and we will never ask for card details over WhatsApp. EFT payments go to William McIlleron's bank account, as named in your order summary. Card payments, when offered, are collected through a Paystack account held by a family member who administers them for Reliquaire. Only pay to account details sent from 072 355 5350. Payments for pre-orders are held for your order and handled with the care the CPA requires.
6. Pre-orders and runs
Designs are made in runs. Each pre-order period has a closing date shown on the design's page and in your order summary. When it closes, we decide whether the run goes ahead.
- If the run goes ahead, your pair is made and delivered within the window in your order summary.
- If the run does not go ahead, you get a full refund, including delivery, within 7 days of the closing date.
- If we can't deliver within the promised window, you may cancel and receive a full refund, or agree to a new date. Your choice.
7. Delivery
We deliver anywhere in South Africa. You choose one of these when you order, and the cost is in your order summary before you pay:
- PAXI, collect at a PEP store: the cheapest option. You get an SMS with a collection code.
- PAXI to your door, or a door-to-door courier.
- Collection in Johannesburg, by arrangement, free.
Delivery prices are the courier's own rates at the time of your order; we don't add a margin. You get tracking details once your pair is sent. The pair is your responsibility once you collect it or it is delivered. If a parcel is lost or damaged before that, we deal with the courier and you get a replacement or a full refund.
8. Cancelling an order
You can cancel at any time before the pre-order period closes, for a full refund within 7 days. After the run has gone into production, you can still cancel. We may then keep a reasonable amount covering the costs already spent on your pair, as the CPA allows, and we will tell you that amount in writing before refunding the rest.
9. Your 7-day cooling-off right
Under section 44 of ECTA, you may cancel your order for any reason, without penalty, within 7 days of receiving your jeans. Send them back unworn, unwashed and in their original condition. You pay only the direct cost of returning them. We refund all other money paid within 30 days of your cancellation, and we aim to do it within 7.
10. Faulty goods
Under the CPA, anything you buy from us must be of good quality, work as it should and be free of defects for 6 months after delivery. If your pair is defective (for example, failing seams or embroidery coming loose through normal wear), return it within 6 months and you choose a repair, a replacement or a refund. We cover the return cost for faulty goods. Normal wear and tear and damage from misuse are not defects.
11. Returns and exchanges
Outside the cooling-off period and the faulty-goods guarantee, we do not accept returns for change of mind, because every pair is made to order. If a pair doesn't fit, message us; where we can, we will help with an exchange for another size from the same run.
12. Buyers under 18
If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to the order and to us using your contact details. Please have them message us or confirm on the order chat.
13. Privacy
How we collect, use and protect your details is set out in our privacy policy.
14. Questions and complaints
Talk to us first on WhatsApp or email; we will reply within 2 working days. If we can't resolve it, you can contact the National Consumer Commission. These terms are governed by South African law.
